CGIAR Science Week 2025: Shaping the Future of Food, Land, and Water Systems Through Innovation

Throughout history, science and innovation have played a crucial role in addressing humanity’s most pressing challenges. Today, issues like climate change, social and gender inequalities, poor nutrition, rural poverty, and environmental degradation pose significant threats to food, land, and water systems, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations. In response, the CGIAR and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) are hosting the inaugural CGIAR Science Week from April 7-12, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya. The milestone event brings together global leaders in research, policy, and development to collaborate on shaping sustainable food systems, ensuring that science-driven solutions effectively address today’s most critical issues.

The gathering aims to co-create a roadmap for transforming food, land, and water systems, forge partnerships, and inspire change by showcasing innovative solutions and discussing CGIAR’s 2025–2030 research portfolio. By fostering investment in sustainable food systems, CGIAR Science Week seeks to address today’s critical challenges effectively, benefiting both people and the planet. Attendees will gain firsthand exposure to groundbreaking advancements through Science Talks, Innovation Showcases, and Research Workshops. Additionally, the event offers an immersive experience in transformative agricultural innovations via an interactive Exhibition Area and on-site visits to CGIAR and partner research facilities, highlighting the real-world impact of science in improving the livelihoods of vulnerable communities.
