Emerging Ag’s commitment to the food sector

The food value chain is the network of stakeholders involved in processing and selling the food that consumers eat—from farm to table. This includes:

  • The processors, both primary and value added, that process and manufacture, food products
  • The distributors, including wholesalers
  • The retailer that market and sell food including grocery, food service, restaurants
  • The consumers that shop, purchase, and consume food

With the world population projected to exceed 10 billion by the end of the century collaboration among the various stakeholders along the food value chain is more important than ever. The growth in population will put a massive strain on the global food supply.

The food sector plays a critical part in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 because of its key role in providing meals to billions of customers and providing jobs to employees around the world. The sector must build around education, awareness, actions-based programs, and a core commitment to creating sustainable food businesses. It’s quite simple, if the food and agriculture sectors are on the path of achieving the SDGs then the world is on the path as well.
