2024 Year in Review
As 2024 draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on an incredible…
The journey towards transforming the African food systems is a remarkable testament to the resilience and ingenuity of our continent.
The continent’s journey toward transforming its food systems is marked by innovation, resilience, and a commitment to sustainable practices. With the rapid population growth, #ClimateChange, and economic pressures the need for transformation has never been more urgent. The continent is embracing the digital age, engaging its youth, and adopting climate-smart agriculture to ensure food security, protect natural resources, and uplift communities. These advancements offer hope for a brighter and more sustainable future, where African food systems can thrive in the face of emerging challenges.
The recently held Africa Food Systems Forum 2023 Summit (#AGRF2023) in Dar Es Salaam, #Tanzania (5th to 8th September 2023), brought together more than 5400 delegates from 90 countries – including 5 Heads of State and Government, 30 Ministers, 6 former Heads of State and Government, more than 80 heads of international agencies and businesses. CEOs of global, regional, and national companies, combining to create a private sector delegation of 1200, including SMEs. The Summit called for taking action in our food systems reenergizing political will and advancing investment efforts towards sustainable agricultural transformation.
The African continent is not just transforming its food systems; it is sowing the seeds of change, nurturing innovation in the fertile soil of tradition, and harvesting hope for a brighter future.
It’s time to recover, regenerate, and act.
