World Milk Day 2023 is just around the corner! In 2001, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) initiated a global day to highlight the importance of dairy. World Milk Day is celebrated on June 1 of each year, raising public awareness of the value of milk for enjoyment, nutrition, livelihoods, and sustainability. In particular for children, dairy offers essential nutrients for growth. It also generates direct and indirect employment for 1 billion people.
The World Milk Day campaign in 2022 is evidence that dairy plays a key role in people’s lives. Over 1.02 billion impressions were generated by the global campaign (which included #WorldMilkDay, #EnjoyDairy, as well as 17 translations and local hashtags), with a total reach of 531 million.
This year, World Milk Day’s theme will focus on showcasing how dairy is reducing its environmental footprint, while also providing nutritious foods and livelihoods. Together, we will drive an active narrative that integrates the environmental, nutritional and societal impacts of the sector.
In response to growing food demands, the dairy sector is optimizing production to meet consumer needs more efficiently.
Emerging ag inc, as coordinator of this social media campaign on behalf of the Global Dairy Platform, looks forward to seeing the #WorldMilkDay campaign dominate social media platforms again this year on Thursday, June 1.
Looking to become involved? We’d love to feature your work! We would like to ask our dairy enthusiasts to kindly share a simple video about sustainable dairy, highlighting the innovation and technology in place to reduce our environmental footprint! These videos can be shared on social media with the hashtags #WorldMilkDay and #EnjoyDairy.
Check out this year’s videos from dairy farmers on the Global Dairy Platform’s YouTube page. Celebrate World Milk Day with us on Thursday, June 1!
