Maddie Wong

Policy Officer

Maddie Wong joined Emerging ag in 2025. Prior to joining Emerging, she was a graduate fellow at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi, Kenya, working across Africa and South Asia.

After graduating from her bachelor’s degree at Tufts University in biology and archaeology, Maddie moved to Nairobi as a Princeton in Africa fellow (PiAf) with ILRI. Later, ILRI invested in her studies, and she graduated with honors from her master’s in international development at Radboud University in the Netherlands and the University of Nairobi. Most notably, she led communications and stakeholder engagement for CGIAR’s Sustainable Animal Productivity (SAPLING) initiative, Livestock Master Plans (LMPs), and the Global Livestock Advocacy for Development (GLAD) project.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Maddie is a US national byway of Hong Kong and has lived in the US, Singapore, and now Kenya. She speaks English and Cantonese.
