As we look toward a more sustainable and equitable future, the Africa Food Systems Summit 2023 stands as a pivotal moment in shaping the continent’s food systems. By rallying together, sharing knowledge, and committing to tangible actions, we can create a food landscape that nourishes both people and the planet. This is an opportunity for Africa to lead the way in sustainable development, setting an example for the rest of the world to follow. The Africa Food Systems Summit 2023 emerges as a beacon of hope and progress. This premiere event in Africa will bring together leaders, experts, and stakeholders from across the continent and beyond, all united by a shared vision: transforming Africa’s food systems for the betterment of its people and the planet.
Unveiling the Summit
The Africa Food Systems Summit 2023 is set for September 5 to 8, 2023 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with the theme “Recover, Regenerate, Act: Africa’s Solutions to Food Systems Transformation.” The Forum is set to be a landmark event that will address critical issues such as hunger eradication, agricultural productivity, climate adaptation, and equitable access to nutritious food.
Emerging Ag is assisting with the program for the event and we are delighted to be working with Amath Pathé Sene, the new Managing Director of AGRF, towards implementing a fresh Forum vision with increased emphasis on building a better tomorrow. The forum will bring together over 400 speakers and an additional 300 speakers for side events, partner gatherings, and Arbre à Palabres sessions.
Getting Involved
The Africa Food Systems Summit 2023 is not merely a talking shop—it’s a platform for action. Participants will work together to craft actionable strategies and commitments that can reshape Africa’s food landscape. These commitments will be carried forward to the United Nations Food Systems Summit, amplifying Africa’s voice on the global stage.
Whether you’re a farmer, a researcher, a policymaker, a business leader, or an individual who cares about the future of food, there’s a role for you to play in the Africa Food Systems Summit 2023. Attendees can participate in plenary sessions, workshops, and exhibitions that showcase best practices, success stories, and innovative solutions. Participation ensures that voices from across the continent can contribute to this monumental event.
The Africa Food Systems Forum 2023 marks a critical moment following the African climate summit. It’s a moment to amplify messages related to Food Systems in preparation of COP in Dubai, and more specifically the themes of soil health, food systems transformation, and nutrition. These striking themes intricately intertwine with the wider global climate policy framework and food systems policy, underlining the inseparable relationship between sustainable development and climate resilience.
