Makena Mwaniki

Makena joined Emerging Ag as a Policy and Communications Officer, where she works across policy analysis, strategic stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based advocacy to support global health and development initiatives. She specializes in translating complex research into technical deliverables, policy briefs, and communication strategies that bridge the gap between evidence and public health policy.

Prior to joining Emerging, Makena worked as a research assistant across academic institutions, generating evidence to inform national health strategies and policies. In addition to her research background, she has delivered clinical nutrition programs in maternal and child health settings. A Rotaractor, Makena has also engaged in global advocacy as a delegate to UN Women UK (CSW68) and the World Bank Group Youth Summit.

A Kenyan national, Makena holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Mount Kenya University.
