Africa Food Systems Forum 2023
The Africa Food Systems Forum 2023 (formerly known as AGRF), was hosted by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania (4th to 8th September 2023). The Forum has grown to become one of the largest food systems forums globally.
The 2023 Forum was a landmark event, as it was the first Forum held under the new brand of the Africa Food Systems Forum, now known as AFS Forum. It was a key moment for highlighting the political, policy, and financial commitments and innovations the continent has made and continues to work towards achieving productive, nutritious, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable food systems. It brought together more than 5400 delegates from 90 countries – including 5 Heads of State and Government, 30 Ministers, 6 former Heads of State and Government, and more than 80 heads of international agencies and businesses. CEOs of global, regional, and national companies, combining to create a private sector delegation of 1200, including SMEs.
The Forum called for bold thought leadership to accelerate action towards translating food systems pathways and commitments into actionable strategies, particularly to address climate. It explored pathways and actions needed to accelerate the process and provided a mandate to steer the continent towards food systems transformation under the theme “Recover, Regenerate, Act: Africa’s Solutions to Food Systems Transformation.”
Emerging Ag is proud to have played a critical part in ensuring the successful delivery of the 2023 AFS Forum.
