{"id":338,"date":"2013-10-21T15:08:25","date_gmt":"2013-10-21T15:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emergingag.com\/?p=338"},"modified":"2013-10-21T15:08:25","modified_gmt":"2013-10-21T15:08:25","slug":"fortifying-fertilizers-can-fortify-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emergingag.com\/fr\/fortifying-fertilizers-can-fortify-food\/","title":{"rendered":"Fortifying Fertilizers can Fortify Food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Esin Mete, President of the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA), makes a case for fortifying the land to fortify the food that grows on it:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style:italic;\">As global leaders come together to discuss a new set of development goals to replace the Millennium Development Goals, that expire in 2015, the role of food security and nutrition is key in underpinning the development agenda\u2019s future success.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style:italic;\">It has been well documented that growth in the agricultural sector can have dramatic impacts in reducing poverty \u2013 in fact, at least twice the potential (see p. 6) of growth from any other sector on average, according to the World Bank.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style:italic;\">As well, improved nutrition not only extends and improves people\u2019s quality of lives but also plays a significant role in boosting their productivity and sustaining a healthy economy.
