In partnership with Lind Agricultural Services, run by Lindiwe Majele Sibanda, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techchange.org\/\">Techchange<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecontentedagency.com\/\">The Contented Agency<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cube.rw\/\">Cube<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandleadership.com\/\">Brand Leadership<\/a>, Emerging developed an innovative program tailored for a virtual audience, selected distinguished speakers and managed the delivery of this year\u2019s Virtual Summit\u2019s program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-137\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/emergingag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/b2ap3_large_AGRF_Infographic.png\" width=\"906\" height=\"274\" align=\"center\" data-style=\"clear\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emergingag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/b2ap3_large_AGRF_Infographic.png 906w, https:\/\/emergingag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/b2ap3_large_AGRF_Infographic-300x91.png 300w, https:\/\/emergingag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/b2ap3_large_AGRF_Infographic-768x232.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 906px) 100vw, 906px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the help of its partners and suppliers, AGRF 2020 featured:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 +10,400 delegates from 154 different countries<\/p>\n<p>These included Heads of State and Government, Ministers, former Heads of State and Government, heads of international agencies, CEOs of global, regional and national business companies, farmers and youth representatives<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<span style=\"white-space: pre;\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/agrf.org\/speakers\">320 speakers<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>An exciting and diverse line-up of speakers, including current and former heads of state, agriculture\/ finance ministers, private sector actors, farmers, development institutions and NGOs<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 78 sessions over 4 full days with 9 hours of programming<\/p>\n<p>Including plenary sessions, thematic platforms, panels, breakout groups, food insight, cultural moments, virtual outings and networking in 3D spaces. These were run on an interactive platform with multiple stages that allowed for several events to be held concurrently. Events were also livestreamed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLY1nzQm0DSFIaDOdfT3QcPq-P_ebVxyu2\">YouTube<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCyRvjnhiC0MOXWS-7COPtyQ\">Rwanda TV<\/a>, Social Media via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheAGRF\/\">Facebook Live<\/a> as well as featured on the cable satellite channel\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbcafrica.com\/\">CNBC Africa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 +1000 investment and partnerships meetings<\/p>\n<p>AGRF 2020 hosted <a href=\"https:\/\/agrf.org\/dealroom\/\">Agribusiness deal rooms<\/a>, matchmaking platforms designed to convene stakeholders from the entire ecosystem to facilitate partnerships and investments in African agriculture<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 US$ 4.7 billion worth of investment opportunities presented in more than 20 value chains\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Agribusiness deal rooms this year drew around 208 businesses, 55 financial investors, 20 business development service providers and 54 anchor buyers<\/p>\n<p>Emerging Ag designed a cutting-edge program around the theme \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FeedTheCities?src=hashtag_click\">Feed the Cities<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Growthecontinent?src=hashtag_click\">Grow the Continent<\/a>: Leveraging Urban Food Markets to Achieve Sustainable Food Systems in Africa\u201d, built around 4 key thematic areas:<\/p>\n<p>1. <strong>Food Systems<\/strong>: improve existing food systems to adapt these to the needs of growing cities<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Nutrition<\/strong>: provide nutritious and accessible diets to feed 1 billion people in African cities by 2040<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Resilience<\/strong>: build back better following the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for ongoing shocks<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>Markets and Trade<\/strong>: jumpstart the African free trade agreement from an agricultural perspective and strengthen agri-food data systems to foster evidence-based policies and predictability<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-138\" src=\"https:\/\/emergingag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/b2ap3_large_AGRF_PictureCollage.png\" width=\"904\" height=\"552\" align=\"center\" data-style=\"clear\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emergingag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/b2ap3_large_AGRF_PictureCollage.png 904w, https:\/\/emergingag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/b2ap3_large_AGRF_PictureCollage-300x183.png 300w, https:\/\/emergingag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/b2ap3_large_AGRF_PictureCollage-768x469.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 904px) 100vw, 904px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Further highlights included:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The launch of the 2020 Africa Agricultural Status Report, <a href=\"https:\/\/agrf.org\/docs\/Press%20ReleaseThe%202020%20Africa%20Agriculture%20Status%20Report%20(AASR).pdf\">Feeding Africa\u2019s Cities<\/a>, assessing the opportunities, challenges and policies required to enable African farmers and agribusinesses serve the rapidly growing urban food markets;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022<span style=\"white-space: pre;\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YEme-lEUjA4\">The Presidential Summit<\/a><\/span>, which welcomed a selection of eminent guest, including Rwanda\u2019s President, H.E. Paul Kagame, was joined by H.E Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission and H.E Amina Mohamed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The announcement of <a href=\"https:\/\/agrf.org\/docs\/Press%20release%20-%20Africa%20Food%20Prize%20Winners%20Final.pdf\">The 2020 winners of the Africa Food Prize<\/a> (AFP) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/vc4a.com\/gogettaz\/2020\/\">GoGettaz Agripreneur Award<\/a>.
