Life can get monotonous and routine especially now with the restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, you can spice up your life from your kitchen. Not only do these new recipes add variety to your diet and mealtimes but preparing them also offers a whole new adventure. What if you stood the chance of winning something in the process?<\/p>\n

POGA <\/a>is organising, for the seventh time, their annual Avena Canadiense recipe contest<\/strong>. After the wonderful response from fans with nearly 100 entries in 2020, they decided to hold the contest yet again. The contest celebrates the health benefits and versatility of oats. Any Mexican citizen, be they a curious home cook or a professional chef, can take part in the contest. This year, the contest features four distinct categories, including traditional Mexican cuisine, vegetarian, gluten-free and creative recipes and a special prize for youth.<\/p>\n

Starting May 1, interested persons can participate through an online form on www.avenacanada.com<\/a> so that gives lots of time to think about what to submit. All that is needed is a photo of your oat-based dish accompanied by the recipe. Whether this is your first time, or your third, this is a great opportunity to explore your culinary skills although past winners can only win three times. The deadline for submission of entries is May 31, 2021. If you want to promote the recipe contest through your own networks, we encourage you to use the hashtag #avenacanadiense.<\/p>\n

If you are looking for inspiration, visit the recipe section of the Avena Canada website<\/a> where you will find many ideas for using oatmeal in drinks, breakfasts, desserts, and main dishes. The winners will be chosen by a jury that will rate the recipes for their originality, presentation, and nutritional value.<\/p>\n

This year, there will be 3 winners in each category and the special prize winner, a total of 13!\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2022 First place: $ 400 CAD (~ 6,000 pesos)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Second place: $ 250 CAD (~ 3,800 pesos)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Third place: $ 100 CAD (~ 1,400 pesos)<\/p>\n

Category 1: Inspired by Mexican Cuisine – Put a twist on a traditional Mexican recipe with oatmeal!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Category 2: Vegetarian – Create a delicious vegetarian oatmeal recipe that will have everyone asking for a second serving (even meat-lovers)!<\/p>\n

Category 3: Gluten-Free – One of the added benefits of oats is its gluten free property. Create a recipe to satisfy the cravings of our celiac friends!<\/p>\n

Category 4: Creative – Oatmeal is a versatile cereal that can be used as a crunchy coating, in a beverage, as flour, semolina, and more. Create a recipe with oats in a unique way<\/p>\n

Special Category: Youth: This is a category especially dedicated to our young contestants aged 25 and below. They can send any type of oatmeal-based recipe that inspires them to stand the chance of winning a prize of $ 400 CAD (~ 6,000 pesos). We really hope to hear what inspires the youth with nutrition and healthy habits.<\/p>\n

In addition to winners getting a cash prize, the contest organisers also offer additional perks such as :<\/p>\n
